Thai police have arrested a 37-year-old Chinese fugitive known as Wu at a luxury residence in Bangkok over alleged links to crypto laundering operations. Investigators accuse him of supplying 133 mule accounts and facilitating the exchange of cryptocurrency and foreign currencies for criminal groups.
Mule accounts are often used to move illicit funds through multiple transactions, making it harder for authorities to trace their origins. By allegedly providing access to these accounts and helping convert funds, Wu is suspected of playing a role in financial networks used by criminal organizations.
The arrest highlights ongoing efforts by Thai authorities to crack down on cross-border financial crime and the use of cryptocurrencies to move illicit money. As digital assets become increasingly integrated into global finance, law enforcement agencies continue to target the networks that exploit them for money laundering.
